Thai floods float Seagate to top of hard drive biz

米国Seagate Technologyは現地時間1月31日、2011年第4四半期（10～12月期）の決算を発表した。昨年タイで発生した大規模な洪水の影響により、今 年に入ってもハードディスク・ドライブ（以下HDD）の供給不足が続き、大口顧客は供給を確保するために長期契約を結ぶことになるとの見通しを明らかにし ている。

Seagate Technology (Thailand) Ltd, the world leader in hard-disk drives (HDDs) and storage solutions, has released the figures for its new read/write-head factory in Nakhon Ratchasima.

米Seagate Technologyは11月28日(現地時間)、2011年第4四半期ならびに来年以降の業績見通しについて発表した。それによれば、同社の部品工場や HDD組み立て工場はタイ洪水の影響を受けておらず、現在は外部の部品サプライヤが影響を受けるにとどまるという。こうした状況は2012年にも回復し、 当初予想を上回る形での生産体制の回復や業績が期待できるようだ。

TwinCities.com - Seagate Technology has won a $525 million arbitration award in Minnesota against rival hard disk drive maker Western Digital after alleging that confidential information and trade secrets were misappropriated when Western Digital hired a former Twin Cities Seagate employee.
