Dell Inc. today introduced its next-generation Dell EqualLogic storage arrays, the PS6110 and PS4110 series, that support optical and copper 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) networking bandwidth for iSCSI storage-area networks (SANs).
The midrange PS6110 and entry-level PS4110 are designed with the same controller and hardware as the PS6100 and PS4100 series that Dell rolled out last summer. Texas Memory Systems launches flash SAN for high availability

Texas Memory Systems (TMS) today unveiled its first high-availability flash SAN. The RamSan-720 system features redundant components and failover capabilities for organizations that want to run run multiple applications on one system with no single point of failure.
The 1U RamSan-720 is based on the RamSan-710 array launched in June. The new system holds either 6 TB or 12 TB of solid-state capacity. 簡単な統合が大きなメリットをもたらす
スイッチの台数を減らすことは、即、コスト削減というメリットを生み出す。1つのスイッチを維持するための年間コストはおよそ3,000ドルである。コンバージェンスによって、このような支出の半分は取り除くことができる。さらに、電力や冷却のコスト、管理コストも削減できる。
さらに、多くの場合に見逃されるメリットが、サーバに接続されているケーブル数の削減である。サーバには、各種スピード・リンク、仮想LANリンク、冗長性リンクやSANリンクなどのためのケーブルが、何本も（8本、10本、あるいはそれ以上）接続されている。コンバージェンスにより、たった2本のケーブルで同等のトラフィックをサポートできる。ケーブル配線が簡素化されれば、データセンター・スイッチの取り扱いが大幅に容易になる。
